At UCLH (University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) our success starts with you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful Foundation Trusts in the UK with an international reputation and a tradition of innovation.

Based in the busy West End of London, we have a lively and vibrant working atmosphere, with quick and easy transport links to all our sites. Our size and resources enable us to offer a range of attractive benefits as well as unparalleled education and development opportunities for staff at all levels. This includes an extensive portfolio of academic and clinical courses and programmes ranging from ongoing personal development through to clinical excellence and leadership skills. UCLH prides itself on its investment in staff both in terms of developing career skills but also its commitment to staff health and wellbeing.

UCLH is one of the largest Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplant centres in Europe. We perform approximately 350 transplants per year and provide vital services for national bone marrow transplant registries.

An opportunity has arisen for a responsible and self-motivated individual to join the laboratory team within the Haemopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Programme. The team currently has 4 scientists and support from one Associate Practitioner with oversight from the Laboratory Director. A rigorous quality management system is in place to ensure that the facility operates within national and international legislation, and provides the best possible care to patients and donors.

As part of this small dedicated team you will be responsible for the day to day management of laboratory analysis, processing, storage and distribution of cellular therapy products. Other duties will include the maintenance and monitoring of the laboratory environment and equipment, the management of laboratory staff, office based administration and to deputise for the Director in his absence.

We are seeking candidates who hold current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council, have a degree in biological or medical sciences, and have a minimum of five years’ experience working in a cleanroom laboratory. Good communication skills, a thorough knowledge of stem cell transplantation and experience of quality management systems are essential.
