UCLH has two major strategic projects underway. On Grafton Way, we are building a facility which will be home to one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and a hyper modern surgery service.  Close by on Huntley Street we are developing the new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Replacing the current hospitals on Grays’ Inn Road, this development will mean we can provide multidisciplinary care to our dental and ENT patients in a modern environment. Our Grafton Way facility is due to open in 2020, with Huntley Street opening in 2019.

Are you an experienced therapist looking for an exciting new challenge? We are looking for a speech and language therapist with a broad range of clinical knowledge and skills, to join our friendly, supportive and hardworking team to cover The Tower at UCH.

You will be responsible for providing assessment, diagnosis and management to a range of patients with communication and swallowing disorders from a wide range of teams including Medicine for the Elderly and general medicine, which make up our core business. You will have experience of acute hospital work, including respiratory disease, degenerative neurological illness, dementia and issues related to capacity. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently under pressure in a challenging environment are essential, as is the ability to work successfully in many teams, including regular liaison with the local community SLT teams. You will also be supported in tracheostomy management and videofluoroscopy. You will be provided with strong managerial and leadership support and the SLT service offers an established supervision system and a range of opportunities for learning and participation in self and service development.

Please note this role’s fixed term contract is for the purpose of covering maternity leave and therefore the end date is subject to change in line with this.
