At UCLH (University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) our success starts with you.

We want you to come to UCLH, and stay at UCLH; all of our staff have been involved in developing our values.

We believe that UCLH is a better place for patients and staff alike. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful Foundation Trusts in the UK with an international reputation and a tradition of innovation.

UCLH has two major strategic projects underway. On Grafton Way, we are building a facility which will be home to one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and a hyper modern surgery service.  Close by on Huntley Street we are developing the new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Replacing the current hospitals on Grays’ Inn Road, this development will mean we can provide multidisciplinary care to our dental and ENT patients in a modern environment. Our Grafton Way facility is due to open in 2020, with Huntley Street opening in 2019.

NHS staff survey results from 2016, UCLH has been named one of the ten best performing non-specialist trusts against the following statement: “If a friend of relative needed treatment I would be happy with the standard of care provided by this organisation”.

This combination role is a great way of helping out and gaining experience of both our inpatient and outpatient areas. In the morning you would be helping on the wards, from 11-12 you would be proactively engaging and interacting with patients, sitting with people whom may be anxious or need a listening ear, running errands or fulfilling basic shopping requests. From 12-1 you would then be supporting patients around mealtimes, a busy time for the ward.

In the afternoon, from 2-5pm you would be supporting our outpatient’s clinics. These are one of the busiest areas of the hospital with multiple clinics running throughout the day. You would be proactively welcoming patients in to the department, making sure that they are checked in at the appropriate clinic and assisting them during waiting periods.

Please note: for this role, you will be required to volunteer for one 6 hour day per week from 11am - 5pm Monday - Friday.
