At UCLH (University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) our success starts with you.

We want you to come to UCLH, and stay at UCLH; all of our staff have been involved in developing our values.

We believe that UCLH is a better place for patients and staff alike. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the largest and most successful Foundation Trusts in the UK with an international reputation and a tradition of innovation.

UCLH has two major strategic projects underway. On Grafton Way, we are building a facility which will be home to one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and a hyper modern surgery service.  Close by on Huntley Street we are developing the new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Replacing the current hospitals on Grays’ Inn Road, this development will mean we can provide multidisciplinary care to our dental and ENT patients in a modern environment. Our Grafton Way facility is due to open in 2020, with Huntley Street opening in 2019.

NHS staff survey results from 2016, UCLH has been named one of the ten best performing non-specialist trusts against the following statement: “If a friend of relative needed treatment I would be happy with the standard of care provided by this organisation”.

University College London Hospitals is part of the UCLH NHS Foundation Trust which has a reputation for innovation and providing excellent patient-focused care. UCH is one of the largest NHS trusts in the United Kingdom and provides first class acute and specialist services both locally and to patients from throughout the UK and abroad.

The hospital is situated within easy reach of the many amenities that London has to offer, catering for a wide and diverse population.

We have an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic Sonographers to join our forward-thinking and friendly department right in the heart of London’s West End.

The Trust is one of the designated Hyper-Acute Stroke Units in London and imaging will form an integral part of the patient pathway. The Imaging Department has a comprehensive range of state of the art equipment, including 4 MRI, 3 CT scanners, a digital Interventional Suite and 9 digital X-ray rooms all fully integrated with PACS.

We now also provide an Imaging service for several satellite units through which staff rotate; the Macmillan Cancer Centre, the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and the recently opened UCH at Westmoreland St Hospital.

The ultrasound service, which includes general, urological and musculo-skeletal ultrasound for inpatients, GP, outpatient and emergency admissions, is based across three sites; UCH, UCLH at Westmoreland Street and The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital.

Gynaecological and obstetric ultrasound is delivered by Women’s Health.

A local short term Recruitment and Retention Premium (RRP) of £5,000 pa (pro rata) will be paid from April 2016 to new and existing sonographers in recognition of their vital part in the radiology Service until March 2018 and will be reviewed annually.

We are looking for dedicated sonographers to work in a small team within the UCLH ultrasound department. The role includes developing key multi-disciplinary relationships across clinical, educational and non-clinical groups and fully participating in the clinical delivery of ultrasound and the training of medical & non-medical staff.

The department is supportive of post graduate training and education and keen to facilitate staff development.
