Eastman Dental Hospital (EDH) is looking to recruit student dental nurses to participate in their 12 month pre-registration training programme.

Successful candidates will be working towards obtaining the National Dental Nursing Diploma, awarded by the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN).

This is a full-time training course that runs from Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm.

The training will be a mixture of theoretical teaching for two sessions per week based in the classroom setting and the remaining time will be spent on rotations to the various clinical departments including:-

• Prosthodontic department
• Periodontal department
• Endodontic department
• Orthodontic department
• Oral Surgery department
• Paediatric department

There will also be opportunities to attend day release placements to two Community Dental Practices, the Radiography department within EDH and the Macmillan Cancer Centre, in addition to two sessions of a two week placement within a General Dental Practice.

The theoretical component of the course is delivered in three modules:

• Introductory module
• Intermediate module
• Final module

All students will be required to complete the NEBDN electronic Record of Experience (eROE) alongside their clinical placements and as evidence of the practical skills and experience they are gaining.

There will be regular assessments that take place alongside the theoretical delivery of the course which provide the students with the knowledge required for all aspects of dental nursing.

At the end of the course candidates will be expected to pass the NEBDN written examination and OSCE examinations and to register with the General Dental Council.
