Specialist Dietitian Band 6 Rotational

Are you keen to be part of a specialist dietetics team? We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and confident team player.  

As a rotational post holder, you will work within well-established multidisciplinary teams in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You should have leadership skills, the ability to work well within teams and be able to manage your time effectively. Interests in audit and service development are also key to this role.

We are advertising a rotational post which will start in our Oncology and Haematology rotation. Other rotations include Head and Neck Cancer, the Nutrition Team (Intestinal Failure), Neurology, Bariatrics, Paediatrics and Metabolics (Inborn Errors of Metabolism). Currently our rotational programme follows a set order to support staff to learn, apply transferrable skills and knowledge and gain experience in specialist areas of dietetics. Each lasts 12 months in duration.

  • Bariatrics – this post is based with the UCLH Obesity and Bariatric Service at UCH, you will work closely with another Band 6 Dietitian and a lead Band 7 Dietitian to provide a specialist service to surgical & medical obesity patients. 
  • Head and Neck cancer – based at UCH you will join an established and experienced team of dietetics who provide a clinical service to every aspect of our Head and Neck pathway and who are highly valued and integrated core members of the Head and Neck multidisciplinary team. The post holder will primarily be responsible for managing inpatients along with one of our Band 7 dietitian’s as well as managing an outpatient clinic. We are a major surgical centre for H&N cancer as well as providing radiotherapy and chemotherapy services
  • Metabolics – this post is based at the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery (NHNN) at Queen Square. Working as part of a small team the post holder is responsible for providing a specialist adult outpatient service to patients with inherited disorders of metabolism at the Charles Dent Metabolic Unit, the largest and oldest metabolic service in the UK.
  • Neurology – also based at the NHNN at Queen Square, as part of the neuro team this role provides a specialist inpatient service to wards at NHNN as well as our Hyper-acute Stoke Unit (HASU) on the UCH site.
  • Nutrition Team – based at UCH, you will work within our gastro dietetics team alongside a band 7 Dietitian and multidisciplinary Nutrition Team to provide a service to patients requiring parenteral nutrition and/or complex enteral nutrition support in our Intestinal Failure Service.
  • Oncology & Haematology – this post is based at UCH, you will work with site specific cancer dietitians working within lower & upper GI, lung, gynaecology, brain, breast, haematology & transplant.
  • Paediatrics – this post is based at UCH, and joins a wider team of seven Dietitians who are responsible for dietetic services to neonatal, paediatric and adolescent patients. Specialist services, within this patient group, are provided to diabetes, oncology and haematology, and food allergy patients as well as premature babies.

We are a forward thinking and expanding department of approximately 45 Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and support staff committed to clinical governance initiatives.  You will be actively involved in CPD and department activities.
