UCLH has two major strategic projects underway. We are building a facility which will be home to one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and a hyper modern surgery service. Close by on Huntley Street we are developing the new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Replacing the current hospitals on Grays’ Inn Road, this development will mean we can provide multidisciplinary care to our dental and ENT patients in a modern environment. Our Grafton Way facility is due to open in 2020, with Huntley Street opening in 2019.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery Neuroscience Team are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 staff Nurses to work on our Neurosurgical wards. This includes our private ward which caters for neurology patients as well and neurosurgical patients in single side rooms and has many patients from overseas as well as across the United Kingdom.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery is the United Kingdom’s oldest and largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital. We are part of University College London Hospitals NHS foundation Trust and we are linked with the University College London (UCL) Institute of Neurology, City and Southbank University’s. Together we are a major international centre for neuroscience training and research.

The neurosurgical wards provide a comprehensive service covering the full range of neurological conditions including all cranial, simple and complex spinal conditions. It specialises in surgery for epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. There is an excellent team of radiologists and vascular neurologists performing interventional procedures. The theatre department comprises of 6 theatres, including Interventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Angio suite.

We provide care for short stay, acutely unwell and deteriorating patients. It is a fast paced and dynamic working environment with ample development opportunities. We will be opening higher observation beds on the neurosurgical wards. It is an exciting time to be involved with an expanding team and develop services to improve patient outcomes.

We are looking for experienced and newly qualified band 5 nurses who have completed their preceptorship course in a ward area or are willing to work towards their precetorship. The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills and an ability to put their patients at the centre of care demonstrating kindness and patience.

In turn we will offer you the ability to advance your skills and aim to provide you with a high standard of training in the clinical area and through our mentorship programme, clinical practice development team, clinical nurse specialists and from Southbank and City higher education institutions.
