The Eastman Dental Hospital (EDH) on Grays Inn Road in Central London is part of University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). It is a specialist postgraduate dental hospital with an international reputation. Together with the Eastman Dental Institute, we provide specialised oral and dental care for patients, specialist postgraduate training for dentists, and a wide range of research into the prevention and treatment of oral and dental disease.

The EDH is a busy hospital with multiple clinics running throughout the day with specialities including restorative surgery, orthodontics, paediatrics, special care dentistry and dental medicine. The volunteer role is about welcoming patients in to the hospital, making sure that they are checked in at the appropriate clinic and assisting them during waiting periods.  This role would suit anyone who is pro-active, outgoing and good with people.

These include welcoming patients, directing them to clinic reception areas and assisting with the online check-in system where this is available. Escorting patients to the relevant departments and befriending patients in the waiting room. Volunteers also encourage patients to complete Meridian surveys / comment cards and answer basic questions.

Unfortunately, we are unable to take any students who are in the final year of the course, and ask that any students in their penultimate year start with us by the end of December. All volunteers must be aged over 18.
