UCLH has two major strategic projects underway. On Grafton Way, we are building a facility which will be home to one of only two high energy NHS proton beam therapy centres, Europe’s largest centre for the treatment of blood disorders and a hyper modern surgery service.  Close by on Huntley Street we are developing the new Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals. Replacing the current hospitals on Grays’ Inn Road, this development will mean we can provide multidisciplinary care to our dental and ENT patients in a modern environment. Our Grafton Way facility is due to open in 2020, with Huntley Street opening in 2019.

ROLE PURPOSE
The Support and Information Service aims to ensure anyone affected by cancer or suffering from a haematological condition receives the practical, emotional and financial support they need. We provide expert information, wig advice, financial and benefit advice, counselling and psychology services, access to nutritional support services, complementary therapies and group activities.

MAIN ACTIVITIES
As a Support & Information volunteer you will assist the team to provide a seamless service between the welcome and living room area so that visitors feel welcomed and listened to. You will learn about the service and what each component entails so you can convey this to our visitors, and you will be involved in shaping the delivery of our service and help us to ensure we meet the needs of our visitors.

We are particularly looking for volunteer who are available Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.

Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
